Myself posing next to my piece, 'Overlap'

Myself posing next to my piece, ‘Overlap’ at the opening of Wenshua Art Gallery’s Inaugural Exhibition.

Who Am I?
My name is Michael Knowles and I am an artist. To be more specific however, my specialties are Photography, Fine Art, Graphic Design & Wood Carving, although I am open to any form of creativity. I attended the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale where I majored in Graphic Design and my works are featured in numerous private collections and has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Pennsylvania, Florida and in The Bahamas. Aside from my creative side, I am descended from a long and infamous line of boat-builders and competitive sailors and I am presently working towards my dream of sailing competitively Internationally.

What Drives Me?
With every brush stroke, shutter release, shape created or piece of wood carved, I try to convey a feeling. That feeling depends on you however and as an artist I am constantly striving to move society’s general perception of art from being purely aesthetic to a deeper, more emotional response.

Who Inspires Me?
My primary inspiration derives from the works of Jackson Pollock, Joan Miro, Piet Mondrian, Franz Kline, Vasily Kadinski, Marc Chagall, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cezzane to name a few.
